The Product

In my position as a sign maker, and a mad keen sea angler, I found I was very disappointed with the available tapes on the market. The majority of tape available were small off-cuts of solas ®™, which, while being a superb film when used correctly, it is not ideally suited to being wrapped around thin fishing rod tips. Solas is designed to be ‘edge sealed’, this is to prevent the ingress of water and dirt, which is inevitable on fishing rods, bicycles etc, the lack of edge sealing solas and similar products is the reason they go black around the edges. The majority of the available products are also very brittle, and do not conform around small shapes like fishing rods very well.

This is where the concept of mighty bright rod tip ape came about. Having tried what was on offer, I decided to experiment and trial various films on my own rods, some 6 months, 3 design changes, and 4 manufacturers films later, we have the finished product that has been in certain shops, and for sale on the internet for nearly a year now. The tape we use to make mighty bright has excellent conforming properties, it does not require edge sealing, and has an expected life span of over 7 years when used on emergency vehicles !

By wrapping the tape around in a spiral, you are also allowing to rod tip to flex as it should, this is another huge advantage over traditional films used in the angling sector, the lightness of the product is also superior, probably on an equivalent to a painted tip.

By following the instructions correctly, the tape can be fitted successfully to nearly all sea fishing rods.

As an added bonus, several UK rod manufacturers, and large mail order shops have taken a keen interest in the product, both as a factory fitted tape, and an after-market product.

Mighty Bright is also the favoured tape of several top class rod builders around the UK.
